Field Trip #4 – The Interstellar Horizon
by Sophie Stockwell
Hi everyone!
Welcome to my field trip! Are you all excited to zoom-zoom-zoom to outer space with me?
If so, then buckle up because it’s going to be a bumpy ride.
Did you know that it’s completely silent in space?
You see there is no atmosphere to allow the sound to travel and for it to be heard. Imagine a library in space?
We have landed on an Interstellar Horizon. What better way to get around than an Interstellar Saucer!
Look up there! Do you see the comet? If you don’t know what a comet is,
it’s basically a big ball of ice and rock made up of sand, ice and carbon dioxide.
Is it just me or is it getting warm here? Venus is the hottest planet in our solar system
with an average surface temperature of 450° Celsius. Wow, that’s sounds pretty hot!
The Earth is one of nine planets in our solar system that orbit around the Sun.
Earth is over one million times smaller than the Sun and the distance
between the two is 149.6 million kilometers!
Speaking of the Solar System, look below for a code for a Solar System Poster!
I hope you learned something new today!
