My first language was Scots Gaelic, although I was raised in Northern Ireland. I can speak Scots Gaelic and Gaelic variations (to an extent, I am only so fluent), French, and English. So about three languages!  That is so very cool!!  I bet you have the most awesome accent too!!  Some Newfies, depending on where they're from sound a little bit Irish with their accent. A lot of their slang and how they speak is from Irish roots, as well. My accent is not exactly what it used to be, it is a very Americanized Scottish/Irish esque accent now. It is still quite noticeable, but definitely not what it was. I love how you worded that Newfies. Irish slang is very rough! I have learned when and when not to use it, as it confuses people. Like ah... In my region it was popular to say "poke" instead of ice cream. Like, "do you fancy a poke?" So once I was out with my close friend and I said that exact phrase and she looked at me very funny because poke can mean other things here. As for that, there are many words in America that mean different (and quite offensive) things in the UK. I cannot think of any now, but it definitely took me a while to get used to the way words are used here. |

I've hit level 8 on speed and I am stuck! Speed is one of my better classes! I used to be very good at Strength, but wow, it gets tough. I think I am only a level 7 Speed though, so maybe I will feel your struggle very soon. |

I think I am only a level 7 Speed though, so maybe I will feel your struggle very soon. Speed and strength are very hard when you hit 8! I don't know how I'm going to complete speed (or strength)! I'll just have to keep trying but it sure is discouraging and hard to keep going when you're only passing about one out of every 10 classes. Speed and my wrist do not work well together! |
