Ok I was rereading the directions... are colored pencils called pencil crayons in Canada? I have never heard of such a things haha Nope, crayons are completely different. They’re by Crayola (originally) and they’re little waxy pencils. They’re soft and colorful and have paper wrappers so you don’t get the colors on your hands. They’re generally for young children, but fun for all ages. I always had some on hand when I taught for coloring time 😄

Yes, crayons are so fun, I have lots of those. ❤ but the directions say you can use pencil crayons, and they must be different than regular crayons because it lists both, as in "Feel free to use markers, pencil crayons, crayons" I wondered if pencil crayons was a canadian term for what we call colored pencils. Or perhaps they are talking about those Crayola twists... they are like plastic pen shapes with crayon inside and you twist it and the crayon emerges.

This is why I should have coffee before posting my eyes cross and I make zero sense. lol… I see what you mean now! I have a friend who calls colored pencils “pencil crayons”. May be a regional thing?

I never thought of them being named something else.

Actually I think that is a better name than "colored pencils" because colored pencils implies they are filled with colorful graphite, not the waxy substance pencil crayons have in the middle. Anyone here ever work with any fun mediums? I want to try oil pastels again, I haven't done much with them since college.

No apology needed 🥰 That does make me curious though if there are any places where people don't grow up using crayons in school? Might have to look that up! Crayons just feel like such an integral part of childhood, I can't imagine not using them as a kid!

Honestly I fear the generations going through schools now don’t have nearly as much variety. I did have children not know what crayons were in my classroom and it made me very sad! So we learned about crayons and then had fun art breaks lol.
